The Connection Between Serving and Low Testosterone
While all service members face physical and psychological challenges related to their service, men—especially those engaged in combat—are at higher risk for low testosterone. At Core Medical Group, we’re here to support you through every phase of your military journey, treating the root cause of your symptoms with expertise and care.
We understand the lasting impact of injuries often experienced by the Veteran community.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) are common among veterans due to the demands of military training, repeated deployments, and combat. Under stress, your body releases hormones that trigger the fight-or-flight response—a surge of adrenaline and cortisol designed for short-term survival in highly charged situations.
While these hormones are critical in the moment, prolonged elevated cortisol levels without adequate rest and recovery can prevent your body from resetting and healing. Over time, this chronic state of stress can disrupt hormone balance, causing long-term damage to your overall health.
Low Testosterone: Military Service and Veterans
Research has found that the extreme stress from training and deployment causes lasting damage to overall hormone production, which leads to the debilitating long-term symptoms.
Low Testosterone and PTSD
At Core Medical Group, we recognize how often veterans share both physical and psychological challenges related to their deployment experiences. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 7% of veterans and 13% of female veterans are affected by PTSD.
Have you noticed any of these symptoms?
Brain fog, stubborn fat that’s hard to lose, difficulty losing weight, low energy, depression, flashbacks, anger, nightmares or night sweats, anxiety, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction.
If so, we’re here to help.
